Lyttle participates in annual Sixth Form Symposium at Our Lady & St Patrick's College

The MLA was one of the featured speakers at the BBC-covered event, which was hosted by TV presenter John Daly at Our Lady & St Patrick's College in Belfast on March 11. Lyttle, who was joined by speakers Gavin Robinson (DUP), Fearghal McKinney (SDLP) and David McNarry (UKIP), answered the question the question: "Should Ireland be Independent?"

During the symposium, which included student attendees from OLSPC, Lagan College and Grosvenor School, each speaker gave his opinion on the topic during a 4-5 minute address, then engaged in a question and answer session with the audience.

Student questions ranged from what currency an independent NI would use to whether the country would seek entry into the E.U. to NI's ability to become self-sustainable. Following the addresses and Q&A, the student body voted on the matter and announced the result.

"I was honoured to speak to these promising students and answer their thoughtful questions," Lyttle said. "It was great to see their enthusiasm for political matters and engage in a meaningful, exciting debate with my fellow politicians."
