Lyttle supports Dementia Awareness Week

It is Dementia Awareness Week from 18-24 May, and Age NI is honouring the occasion by highlighting the many services it provides to older people living with dementia. I would encourage any older constituents or family members of older people to read more about Age NI resources at www.ageni.org/dementia.

At the moment, approximately 19,000 people are living with dementia. However, projects show that the number will rise to almost 60,000 people by 2051 — the fastest expected rate of increase in the UK. Age NI aims to support those diagnosed through its dementia day centres; Meadowbank, its dementia residential centre; and through the innovative My Life My Way project, which helps people living with dementia let their voices be heard.

Age NI also offers free events for seniors across the province. Below are several upcoming events (please note booking may be required). For a list of all events, click here.

26 May – Seminar: How the NI Assembly Works (Parliament Buildings, Stormont)

3 June – Wool Dyeing (Ulster Museum)

10 June – Lavender Soap Making (Ulster Folk & Transport Museum)

17 June – Rag Rugging (Ulster American Folk Park)

Age NI relies on donations to continue to provide services for older people. For every £1 you donate, 86p directly benefits older people.
