Lyttle asks Regional Development Minister about cycle provision on Dublin Road

During the Assembly on 12 May, Lyttle asked Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy how he intends to improve the integration of sustainable transport and cycling provision in light of the upcoming Dublin Road improvement scheme. Lyttle chairs the All Party Group on Cycling and is an avid supporter of cycling as an alternative mode of transport in Northern Ireland.

Lyttle began by thanking the Minister for his work towards delivering a modal shift to public and sustainable transport, then followed with a request for details regarding the carriage of bicycles on buses and trains, as well as the upcoming Dublin Road improvement scheme.

In turn, the Minister thanked Lyttle for his enthusiasm and commitment to cycling, then went on to state his intention to integrate improvement schemes with cycling strategy.

“We intend to bring forward proposals where we can see projects put in place in areas,” Mr Kennedy said. “I look forward to action on that early in 2016.”
